Navigating the digital landscape is one of the most complex challenges facing modern families and schools.

To address this ongoing challenge, Superintendent Rob Smith will be the featured guest on a live SmartSocial webinar, “Is Screen Time Pulling Your Child Away? Balancing Parental Controls & Student Privacy:”

  • Tuesday, December 16, at 5:00 pm (Mountain time)

  • Register Here

  • Parents who register in advance will be entered to win prizes like a Kindle and 3D printer.

The live session will feature a discussion with Superintendent Smith, who will discuss:

  • Key concerns for managing your family’s screen time is important

  • Strategies to positively manage screen time

  • How to utilize parental controls

  • How to empower your family with open communication

The goal is to build open communication so students feel heard and supported.

“I recognize the balance that parents and teachers look for when it comes to their kids and devices; it’s a topic that we will continue to wrestle with,” said Smith. “As a district, our priority is to maintain student-centered experiences where learning is the primary focus. Parents are vital partners in our efforts.”

This discussion comes at a pivotal time as the district reviews recent feedback regarding cell phone policies. Surveys from parents, students, and employees have provided a wealth of data on the impact of devices in our schools.

“We do not shy away from deep questions or difficult topics. By seeking feedback from parents and consulting with experts like SmartSocial, we refine our practices to better serve our community,” he added.

This webinar is a step toward aligning our strategies with parent and student needs.
